ou lesse/Old lessons

eat my skin,
between words;
in flesh,
enough said.

Stadig, ritmies
die nag in
oor en oor
die sag syfer van lig.
deur ure gestruikel om saam te luister,
ek is hier
genoeg gesê.

eet my vel,
tussen woorde;
in vlees,
genoeg gesê.

slowly, rhythmic
into the night
over and over
the soft filter of light.
struggled trough hours to listen together,
I am here.
enough said.

as die tyd op is,
hoe gaan ons weet?
roep die maan ons.
luister die sterre
as ons asem op raak.
fluister my genot tydelik na.

I am not to blame for wanting more
I am fragile and weak
my bones are soaked in vinegar
touch me and I will break
feel me and I will fake
I am not,
so learn the same old lesson.

if the time runs out,
how will we know?
will the moon call us.
does the stars listen
if our breath is used up.
whisper after my pleasure only timely.

Ek is nie skuldig dat ek meer wil hê nie
Ek is breekbaar en swak.
my bene is in asyn geweek
raak aan my en ek sal breek
voel my ek sal dit namaak.
ek is nie,
so leer die selfde ou les.

Your poems always send me into something like a trance when I'm reading them, even that of your native language. It's beautiful...all of it.

i always like when you use just two words to a line, awhile ago, i think it was "wash clean", i'm guessing in my old age. like the entire poem, but i like the stanzas with "enough said" at the end. very good.
